Theses and Dissertations: Archive Submission

Copyright and Permissions

As the author of the thesis or dissertation, you will be asked to certify that any copyrighted material used in your work, beyond "fair use," is with written permission of the copyright owner.

Be prepared to submit letters and/or emails documenting that the copyright holder (e.g., photographer, author, creator, etc.) gives you permission to use their materials, and/or a statement documenting your evaluation of the four fair use factors and determination that your use is fair.

Thesis Deposit Instructions

After your Thesis Committee has approved your thesis and you have received the required signatures on your thesis approval form, you must submit the final approved document to respective graduate program coordinator for archiving.
It is important that you upload the final version of your thesis promptly after it is approved. Here is why:
  • You cannot graduate until the approved thesis has been uploaded and your advisor has verified that the uploaded text is the approved thesis.
  • KAUST Library will add the uploaded file to the KAUST Research Repository, where your work will have a permanent URL and will be available to web search engines (In case you need to delay public availability, that option is offered during the upload process).
