KAUST’s PlumX dashboard displays a broad range of indicators of the impact of research. It currently provides metrics including downloads, citations and social media sharing related to research recorded in the KAUST repository. The provided metrics can be explored and analyzed for departments, researchers and individual items. The analytics and export functions are accessible to anyone within the KAUST computer network. If you have questions about this service please contact repository@kaust.edu.sa.
PlumX pulls together metrics from over 30 sources including the KAUST repository, publication databases (Scopus, Pubmed, EBSCO), scholarly blogs, video and presentation sharing sites (Youtube, Vimeo, Slideshare), social media sites (Facebook, Twitter), Wikipedia, the publisher PLoS and the code-sharing site Github.
In the KAUST Repository, items with metrics in PlumX will now display a PlumPrint widget on their item page. When you mouse over the PlumPrint a summary of the metrics for that item will display.
Example:
Additional widgets are available for individual researcher profiles and for departmental groups. Information about how to use them can be found on any page in PlumX by clicking the embed widget button () on that page. Complete information about the PlumX widgets is here.
The PlumX dashboard includes individual metrics profiles for all faculty and research scientists at KAUST based on the items connected to each person's ORCID ID in the KAUST repository. If you do not have an ORCID, or your ORCID is not yet connected to your publications in the repository, please use the KAUST-ORCID integration tool at http://orcid.kaust.edu.sa/ (KAUST intranet only) to create an ORCID, or register your existing ORCID. More information about ORCID is available at http://libguides.kaust.edu.sa/orcid. If you notice that something is missing from your PlumX profile, or have other questions, please contact repository@kaust.edu.sa.
We offer periodic trainings about PlumX. Check the calendar at https://kaust.libcal.com/calendar/workshops to see if there is one coming soon. We also provide sessions on request to departments and research groups that ask for them.
PlumX groups metrics into five categories:

Further analysis of the PlumX metrics can be done by using PlumX's analytics features, which present interactive charts for departmental groups and for individuals that allow you to further visually explore the metrics to see how they vary across divisions, programs or research centers, or among the profiled individuals from each department for specific types of research outputs or for a specified time period. The PlumX metrics can also be exported for analysis. Currently, the analytics and export functions are password-protected. If you would like access to them please contact repository@kaust.edu.sa.
