Open Access Publishing Options at KAUST: Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI)

Transforming scholarly communication and research publishing landscape.

MPDI Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP)

In January 2020 KAUST signed the first gold publishing institutional agreement with MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute).

According to this agreement, for any research or review article where at least one KAUST author is an affiliated author, MPDI will grant a 10% reduction on the published Article Processing Charge (APC) paid by the author. KAUST authors who publish with MDPI need to make sure that a 10% discount is applied to your invoices during 2020.

Affiliated authors also receive a 10% discount on charges associated with open access book publishing with MDPI (i.e., book processing charges: BPCs).

NOTE: Only one discount through is permitted per paper, and the discount cannot be combined with other available discounts (e.g., discount vouchers, or society membership discounts).

A list of current APC charges is available at
