What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is an online text-matching tool that checks students' work against existing sources for improper citations or potential plagiarism (

Students can access Turnitin via their Blackboard accounts. Once you are enrolled for either a Thesis or a Dissertation, you will have access to Turnitin for the remainder of your time at KAUST. For assistance, please contact the Library for content related questions or the ITHelpdesk for access/system issues.


Researchers who would like to check their papers for plagiarism in a text-matching software like Turnitin can use iThenticate. This is a service provided by the Office of Research Publication Services (RPS). More information and contact details are available here:​
